Correction from earlier today regarding registration. As we prepare for busses back to full capacity, and the addition of new drivers, we have realized the need for additional time to create and practice our bus routes. If parents could please work to complete registration by this Friday, it would be doing us a big viking favor. This will let us know who needs to be on a bus route. Please log into skyward family access, and complete by Friday, August 6th at 4 pm. We apologize for the incorrect information this morning.

I have attached the document with school supply lists for grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade. All students will be responsible for their own school supplies this year as opposed to the last several years where you would write a check for purchased supplies to PTO. Class lists will not be posted until August 11th for supplies that are classroom specific. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MWN0nvjN74OZTeCoPXHTnuvjhkiJxo5Y/view?usp=sharing

Congratulations to Whitney Leipold, Ella Propersi and Lauren Shively on solid performances in the BNGSA All Star Game. Whitney made a phenomenal diving catch in left field, and Lauren earned the Area MVP award for an amazing 4 inning pitching performance only allowing one unearned run. Although the Area team came up short on the scoreboard, it was a special night for 3 these teammates to be on the field one last time together! Congratulations ladies on outstanding careers and best of luck in your future!

For our end-of-the-year baseball banquet on Monday, June 21, We have secured the Gill St. food truck to serve our baseball families. They will be parked on the north end of the HS parking lot. The food truck will be available for anyone in the community to eat as well. The baseball families will be ordering and eating from 5:30-6:15, then anyone who wants to can come to get what they want. The food truck people said they would stick around until 8:00-8:30. If this is something that would be good to pass onto community members, feel free.

Fully vaccinated individuals do not need to quarantine if they are named as a close contact, as long as they remain symptom free. At Tri-Valley our goals are to maintain access to in-person instruction, experience spring sports that were completely lost last year, have concerts, the high school musical, and an authentic graduation for our seniors and families. Please remember, if you do not feel well, the most important thing you can do if you do is stay home and get tested. The rapid Covid test is readily available for anyone symptomatic. It is really important to know, we see symptoms presenting like typical spring allergies (commonly scratchy throat, runny nose, congestion, or headache), as opposed to just fever, cough, or loss of sense of taste or smell. We can do this #togetherTV3!

Tri-Valley Families: Kindergarten screening will begin the week of March 1st - March 5th. These screenings help get an accurate number for class sizes in our Kindergarten rooms for next year. As of right now, we have 50 students signed up for screening. This is a low number compared to years past. As a result, we are looking for anyone that has not signed up for kindergarten screening to please call the elementary office to set up a screening appointment. Eligible students must turn 5 on or before September 1st. If you or anyone you know with kindergarten age students has not signed up yet please encourage them to call 309-378-2031 and we will get them set up for screening!

We are ready for another great week at Tri-Valley. It is more important than ever that EVERYONE conducts daily symptom checks, and stays home if ill (or family member is ill or getting tested). DO NOT be the person that sends a sick child to school. Our success depends on everyone making good decisions. Many pediatricians are now offering PCR tests with quick turnarounds (an hour). That's a game changer!! If you're not sure about a symptom, please be cautious and STAY HOME. Protect our students and staff!!! #togetherTV3

Last night our board of education approved a recommendation to have ALL students return on February 1st. Students that chose remote learning for this 9 weeks will remain remote. However, those in 7th-12th grade that have been blended to this point will begin daily in person attendance on Monday, February 1st, 2021. Dismissal times will remain unchanged to allow our staff time to work with remote or quarantined students, and to provide additional planning time. A video outlining this decision and associated rationale can be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?hd=1&v=4yzB-A0ukOg&feature=youtu.be. I ask that ALL parents view the video to hear about updates, changes, and protocols moving forward. Go VIKINGS!!!!

The Tri-Valley Speech Team has been very busy this fall! We have “attended” 7 virtual tournaments that consist of both video submissions and live zoom competitions. Beginning in October with two early bird tournaments at University High School, the Tri-Valley team had Molly Klessig (HI) place 11th and Charlotte Watson (EXT) place 8th.The following weekend Lauren Christopher (INFO) and Seth Coughlin (IMP) both placed 4th, Kaitlyn Jones (HI)  placed 3rd and the Duo of Kaitlyn Jones and Anthony Decker placed 1st.  November brought 3 tournaments with Seth Coughlin placing 4th at one and 6th at another while Kaitlyn and Anthony’s duo placing 4th at all 3. The first meet of December was a gigantic accomplishment for our team! Charlotte Watson placed 3rd, the Duo of Kaitlyn Jones and Anthony Decker took 4th, Lauren Christopher and Kaitlyn Jones each brought home a 5th place and Seth placed 6th in JV. These placements awarded the Tri-Valley Speech Team with a 5th place overall in the limited entry division!!  We ended December with Charlotte placing 4th and our Duo (Kaitlyn and Anthony) placing 3rd. We have many meets to go with Regionals beginning in February.  These kids are working hard and really doing a great job.  If anyone would like to join our team- it is never too late.  Just email Mrs. Marcotte and we can discuss where you would like to participate. Great Job TV Speech Team-  I am very proud of you!!!

After talking with the Downs Food Pantry, Tri-Valley CUSD #3 has decided to once again run our busses to collect food and household items for those in need. It is important to recognize that our food pantry serves the ENTIRE Tri-Valley school district, and we want to help! Our amazing transportation department and bus drivers have agreed to run a 2nd afternoon route on Thursday, December 10th to collect goods for the food pantry. After all bus riders are dropped off at home, the busses will return to Tri-Valley, collect teacher and staff volunteers, and then head back out to collect as much as we can for our community in our empty busses. Please leave your donations at each bus stop, or at the end of your drive, and watch for our busses to return to gather all that we can. In fact, feel free to cheer us on (socially distanced and in masks of course). A few of our rural routes will receive additional information related to donations in the next few days. We look forward to stocking the Downs pantry for our Viking community, and we look forward to seeing you Thursday afternoon. Items requested by the food pantry have been e-mailed.

We have continued to see increases in positive cases of Covid-19 and quarantined students and staff over the last few days.  Our local realities coupled with county metrics have forced us to extend our remote pause through December 7th.  Tri-Valley will have no in-person instruction between now and December 7th, but will provide remote learning daily.  Our building principals and teachers will be following up with further information.  We apologize for the inconvenience, but recognize the need to be cautious in our approach to moving forward while considering the safety of our students and staff.  We hope to resume a regular schedule on Monday, December 7th.

We are planning to make a change to after school care hours for the upcoming school year. After discussion with administration, we have decided to move the after care hours to 2-4:30 rather than 2-5:30. The reason for the change is to allow our custodial staff plenty of time to deep clean the building in preparation for the safe return of students for the next day. We appreciate your understanding on this schedule change. If you have questions, please contact Tyler Swearingen at the elementary school.

We want to thank you for your continued support of Tri-Valley during these unprecedented times. We are looking forward to opening our buildings to our students for the start of school. However, with the guidelines from ISBE, IDPH and the ongoing construction of our high school, we have decided to not allow any facility reservations for non-school teams and organizations during the first semester. We will look at guidelines in January and send out new communication at that time if we feel it is safe to open to outside groups. We understand this may be an inconvenience to many groups that have used facilities in the past and we hope by letting you know in advance this will allow you the opportunity to find alternate facilities.

A trend is building among Illinois high schools during the COVID-19 pandemic quarantine known as Lights for the Fight. Schools are turning on their athletic field lights from 8:00 PM to 8:20 PM each Friday night throughout the quarantine as a sign of support for their senior student-athletes, as well as for all the healthcare workers, first responders, and all other essential workers on the frontlines of the pandemic. Tri-Valley High School will have the lights on at the football field on Friday's in support of this cause. Thanks, Tri-Valley Administration

Good Evening Tri-Valley Staff and Families, Governor Pritzker just issued an executive order that all Illinois schools will be closed beginning March 17th to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Students may return to school on Tuesday, March 31st based on the information we’ve been given. There will be no extracurricular activities (contests, practices, games, meetings, etc) until March 31st. Due to these developments, and out of an abundance of caution, Tri-Valley School District will be utilizing Digital Days all next week, including Monday, March 16th. We will post assignments as we’ve done in the past for all digital days. These will be posted on our website and via email. Any students that need to pick up materials or devices from school can do so on Monday, March 16th from 10am-4 pm. Devices will be made available to those that may need them. Please contact building principals if you need to utilize a school device during this time. In summary: No school for students March 16th through March 30th. Assignments will be posted on the District website for March 16th through March 20th, and March 30th. No assignments will be posted for March 23rd through the 27th due to Spring Break. We will keep you updated as more information is received. Stay safe and healthy!
